The past month or two, I’ve been kinda, sorta, maybe looking for a home to buy up here. I’d contacted a real estate agent and had been getting occasional e-mails back from her with houses that I might be interested in. Most of them I blew off after reading the description, and the couple I actually did a drive-by on were just not anything I was interested in. All that changed this past week.
A house that matched what I was looking for was listed on Monday. I got an e-mail about it on Tuesday morning. It looked good, so I did a drive-by. It still looked good, so I called the agent. The housing market is so hot up here, she said it wouldn’t be on the market for more than a week, so timing would be critical.
I looked at it on Wednesday evening, and it had pretty much everything I’d been looking for. Privacy, vaulted ceilings, a nice kitchen, a wrap-around deck, a view~~
I made an offer on it the next morning. I found out that by then, 2 other people had already viewed it, and one had put an offer on it! It had only been on the market 3 days!!
Anyway, I won out, and baring unforeseen circumstances, moving day will be towards the end of April.
On a bittersweet note, Cecelia and I have decided that our lives are heading in different directions, so I’ll be moving to the new house while she’ll be staying at the house where we are now, at least for the time being. It’s all very amicable, and we’ll part as friends. This isn’t a new revelation for us; we decided some months ago that we would eventually part ways.
The new house is in the community of Peter’s Creek, which is just north of where I am now in Eagle River. The mailing address will be in Chugiak, AK. Below are some photos I took the first time I visited the house; I’m sure there will be more in the weeks to come!
