Winter is closing in on us up here. Today’s high was not much over 5°, and it’s a clear, cold night so we’re expecting we’ll get well into the minus numbers. Sunrise is just after 9 AM and sunset is about 4:20. The way the house is situated on a mountain with another across from us, we get about 3 ½ hours of direct sunlight a day now, and I’m betting in another month (if that long) we won’t get any direct sunlight at all at the house.

We decided to go out for a bit of a walk today, and headed to a trail not far from the house. It was around 3 PM, but the sun had already gone behind the mountains, and it was around 0°. We bundled up and hiked for an hour or so, then came home and got warmed up again.

Tomorrow is the big 5-0. Hope I’m not getting too old for this!
